Today is a national holiday in Kenya. It is the 46th anniversary of Kenya's liberation. This is good in that this country attained its liberation, but it also meant that we were unable to do anything regarding the adoption, because all government offices (including the US embassy) were closed. We tried to contact a doctors office to schedule an appointment, but we not able to connect with them. We assumed they were closed as well.
So, we had another day at the pool, at the playground, and we even took a stroll down the street to a pretty large mall. We went there to get some additional passport photos taken, because we are not sure if the ones we have will be satisfactory for the things we need to do this week. But, you guessed it, those places were closed as well. Many other places in the mall were open, so we picked up a pair of sandals with straps behind the ankle, for Gabriella. The ones she has keep falling off. Gabriella loves her new shoes and wanted to wear them immediately. She also loves cars and motorcycles, so we got her a car that goes when you pull a string. It also had a bell, which luckily broke after about 100 or so trials (but what would you expect for a car that cost 80 schillings).
Not much else to write about today, other than the fact that we went out for pizza and ice cream for dinner tonight. We were getting tired of hotel food, and needed a little break. Fortunately, the pizza place was open for business...YEA!!!!! Unfortunately, the pizza wasn't very good, and Gabriella wasn't too thrilled with her first taste of ice cream -- she said it was too cold.
Oh, but we do have some good news, it will not take as long for us to update this blog from now on. The bad news is that this is because Gabriella accidentally knocked our camera out of my hand and broke it. The video in this entry was taken just before this unfortunate event....

I enjoyed the video and have loved the pictures, It's a shame the camera is broken. Perhaps you can find a one-use disposable one or two for the rest of the trip. They make them both for digital stills and movies. I anxiously refresh the blog from about 11 a.m. on, until it's updated.
ReplyDeleteSo Gabriella enjoys "Out the window with Gabriella". That's sweet, so is she.
Love,
